IPSIG Newsletter | June 2018

Dear IPSIG Member,

We are planning to send out regular emails to update you on our activities as well as information on training events and any other news, which we think might be useful to CBT therapists in independent practice. You have been included in this mailing because you are an IPSIG member.
If you wish to be removed from our list, please email our Membership Secretary, Claudia Herrieven at ipsigmembership@gmail.com.
Equally, if you know any BABCP colleagues who are in private practice, or thinking of taking on paying clients, do encourage them to join us.

Are you active on Twitter?

Patricia Murphy has been managing our Twitter account and would like to step down, so we would really appreciate someone volunteering to manage our tweets. Email me now if you might be interested in taking this role on.

If Facebook is more your thing, then you might be interested in joining the Private Healthcare Practitioner Staffroom Group:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/115600919128550/

Just to remind you that you can still register your practice on the IPSIG website for free – https://ipsig.net   Private healthcare providers and EAPS take note, this is the only website solely for BABCP accredited CBT therapists working in independent practice in the UK.

Autism has been getting a lot of media attention lately. One per cent of the population may be on the autistic spectrum. If that’s true for the general population, my guess is that the incidence is higher in the clinical population, so it’s something we need to be aware of. IPSIG Committee Member Rachel Phillips is running a training day on therapy with autistic adults from an autistic perspective. The event is on Tuesday, June 26th. She’s entitled it ‘Bridging The Empathy Gap’ and it’s being run through BABCP, at the ICCA in Nottingham. I see Darren Liddle is also running a day for BABCP on Adapting CBT for people with autism in Scone in November. For more information on these events, refer to the BABCP Events page: http://www.babcp.com/Training/Events.aspx

Sarah Rees and Heather Howard-Thompson are running a networking event they have organised independently on Setting Up Or Working In Private Practice for Healthcare Professionals at Yorkshire Sculpture Park on Friday, June 29th. Details are on Eventbrite:
https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/setting-up-or-working-in-private-practice-for-healthcare-professionals-qa-and-networking-event-tickets-45233502624

Finally, Jim Lucas of Openforwards Ltd is running a webinar for CBT Psychotherapist ‘Briefings on Strategies To Prevent Burnout And Stress’ on Friday, July 6th, between 11am and 12.30pm, details, once again, are on Eventbrite: https://preventburnoutandstressinip.eventbrite.co.uk

Please contact us at ipsig@babcp.com if you would like to become more involved in the activities of the IPSIG, and especially if you are interested in becoming our Twitterer-in-Chief. Contact us too, if you have any information about training events or other news, which might be of interest to colleagues working in independent practice.

Best wishes,
Adam May
IPSIG Chair, on behalf of the IPSIG Committee
