I’m a Husband, Father, Former Soldier, Psychological Therapist and Confidence Coach committed to helping people overcome the emotional, psychological and practical barriers to what truly matters to them. My focus is helping people overcome the anxiety stopping them building meaningful and satisfying lives, relationships and careers.
Like many people my life was shaped by anxiety. Looking back, many of the decisions I made, or more importantly didn’t make, were about avoiding fear of getting it wrong, failing or rejection. And, like many people, I found ways to get on with my life by not getting too close to things that made me anxious. I got myself in to a comfortable rut and stayed in my lane.
Then, as an Army clinician working with people with serious anxiety disorders like PTSD, Panic, Social and Generalised Anxiety Disorder and more I started to realise there were common ways people ‘managed’ their anxiety that just didn’t work. I noticed people were using the same unworkable strategies over and again getting them stuck in their anxiety. Worse, these strategies actually increased their anxiety and moved them further and further away from living their lives fully and with meaning.
I searched for the most effective ways to help people find workable strategies to overcome their anxiety and that is when I discovered newer forms of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), grounded in solid clinical research, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) & Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT). At first they appear counterintuitive but I realised, that as so much of what common sense tells us should work actually makes our anxiety worse, a counterintuitive approach is exactly what is needed.
When I started working with people to learn these new approaches, they not only reduced their distress, they started connecting with their values and building richer, more satisfying lives. These were people who had to function in high stress environments who couldn’t afford to let their anxiety get in their way. The results were impressive, they overcame their anxiety, improved their ability to work in the most stressful of environments and reconnected to the things that mattered most to them, not just in their work but in their lives. It was a game changing discovery and I decided to begin applying the same principles and strategies in my own life.
Like the people I work with my life was changed. I discovered new vitality in a life guided, not by struggling with anxiety, but by moving towards the things that mean the most to me. My life is no longer spent in the past or the future but is grounded in the present where I have found the courage to do the things that mean the most to me. I’m now passionate about sharing this radical and revolutionary approach because I know first hand what it means to stop struggling and to start living fully.

The most exciting part of my journey is discovering that people can learn confidence, courage and the skills they need to step out of their struggle. I know this because I’ve learned it. And because I’ve taught it to 100s of people from diverse backgrounds, from military personnel, who perform in high risk, high stress environments, to elite athletes wanting to improve their focus for sporting performance, through to CEOs wanting to overcome success limiting beliefs, behaviours and work stress who have changed their lives as a result.
People come to me to help them reduce their distress but they leave reconnected to a life filled with vitality meaning and satisfaction.
