Eleanor Bigden CBT and Coaching
Hello! I’m passionate about the work I do, which is providing effective therapy, coaching, mentoring and supervision in person and by phone, Skype and FaceTime sessions to busy working professionals from a wide variety of backgrounds. My specialist areas are helping people
– handle stress, anxiety, pain and difficult interpersonal dynamics much more effectively
– overcome depression, chronic fatigue, OCD, perfectionism, mood swings, addiction, problems with sleeping and weight gain
– re-route from “bad habits” and coping strategies that are backfiring – whether that’s comfort eating, TV binging, harsh self criticism, worrying or over analysing, to give just a few examples of patterns we can all relate to some of the time!
– build genuine confidence, courage, resilience, awareness, presence, strength of purpose and interpersonal skilfulness across all their relationships.
I work with people short, medium and long term, with anything from very specific goals to a complete life turnaround!
I integrate several different therapy and coaching models in a very bespoke way to suit each of my client’s specific needs, aims and preferred learning styles.
I’ve been a big “training junkie” over the last 20 years (I love the work I do) and as a consequence of working with 1000’s of people and dedication to getting feedback and examining my work, I find that a combination of insights, methods and strategies drawn from a wide range of models under the CBT umbrella – and beyond – are especially effective. I have studied and applied the following models extensively: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassionate Mind Training, Behavioural Activation, Schema therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Non Violent Communication (NVC), Emotion Focussed Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Body Focussing, Interpersonal Therapy and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP).
Having overcome a depression, chronic fatigue, social anxiety and addiction myself (phew what a journey!), I’m very passionate about walking my talk and offering truly empathic understanding on the basis of real life experience, and it’s a real privilege to pass on to other people the (hard won!) wisdom I’ve gained, that combines both personal and professional insight in a way that is very practical, down to earth and with a healthy dose of humour to make the process of learning and growth as realistic and enjoyable as possible.
I have taught Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to therapists at advanced diploma level at Regent’s College, and I have been supervising therapists since 2002. I’m dedicated to my ongoing professional development, research, supervision and personal mentoring to continuously deepen my insight and offer you a truly helpful and encouraging experience of teamwork with me, whatever your current struggles, thorny issues and challenges may be.
