Natalie Eyre – Natalie Louise Therapy
Are you tired of battling against chronic pain or illness every day? Maybe you feel that your life is being controlled by it? Or perhaps you feel that you have lost your identity since becoming unwell?
It can be very difficult to live with a long term health problem or persistent pain and many people believe they just have to “put up with it”. This can result in withdrawal from friends and family, stopping doing activities you once enjoyed and spending much more time resting than you did before. Sometimes you might try to ignore it and push through until it makes you feel worse. If any of this sounds familiar, you are not alone and there is a way that you can learn to live a valued and fulfilling life despite the pain you are in or the illness you face.
I am a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist also trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy who has specialised over a number of years to treat people struggling with illness and pain. I have a chronic pain condition myself which gives me a unique perspective on what you may be going through, something that clients have said is invaluable in helping them trust the therapy process. I can help you to understand your pain and learn coping strategies to take steps towards living the life that you want. I can help you to change your relationship to your pain or illness, leaving you more time to do the things that are important to you rather than spending your time and energy constantly fighting against it. It is extremely common for people with chronic illness or pain to be struggling with the way they feel emotionally too. This is another thing that we can look at and work on in therapy.
From a physical health perspective, any long term health condition can be looked at in treatment. This is because treatment focuses on the impact that it has on your life and the relationship you have to the condition. It may be a pain condition such as unexplained chronic pain, arthritis, ehlers-danlos syndrome, scoliosis, fibromyalgia, carpel tunnel syndrome or migraines (amongst others). It could be a health condition such as diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, asthma, chronic fatigue syndrome or endometriosis (amongst others).
From a mental health perspective, I can provide therapy for:
– Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
– Health anxiety
– Social anxiety
– Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
– Low self esteem
I offer telephone or video therapy to clients living in the UK so you do not need to worry about travelling and can sit/stand/move around in the comfort of your own home during therapy sessions.
If you are here reading this, you have already taken that important first step in realising something needs to change.
